A Landmark Preserved

The Glen Haven Canning Company stands as one of the last reminders of the thriving coastal village that once supported Great Lakes shipping, farming and industry. Built in the early 1920s, the cannery played a vital role in processing local cherries and produce, helping sustain the community and connect the region to markets across the country.
Today, the restored building is a celebrated historical landmark within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. Just steps from the building, the pristine beaches offer sparkling Lake Michigan waters, soft sand, and sweeping dune views that draw families, hikers, and nature-lovers throughout the season. The lakeshore draws well over 1.5 million visitors, making Glen Haven Canning Company- and its lakefront setting- a timeless destination preserved for generations to explore and enjoy.
